Perceiving reality

Whatever is disturbing us outside, people, events, things and what not, are in fact a turbulence in our own field, a distorted way of externalizing what’s internal and seeing it in an obviously distorted way. Therefore patience in allowing life to unfold and time to unveil everything is mandatory for the spiritual adept since without patience we would be continuously pushed by the mind and its erroneous interpretation of existence, to take actions and say things that we might not want or we might regret later.

The world we’re experiencing is perceived therefore in an erroneous way. Everything comes translated by the logic in something that resembles something that happened in the past, because this is the capacity of the limited mind to relate to past events and things it learned in order to decipher the present moment. The present moment is always altered by the past perception, that’s why all the wisdom that reached us from old times through scriptures or oral transmissions emphasizes over and over again living in the present moment.

We assume that we are doing it, yet besides the erroneous interpretation of the mind through past distortions (sometimes as old as from previous lives), we are always burdened by thoughts of past and future. We are always allowing that inner voice to distract us from whatever is NOW. That is the voice of the lower mind, the ego which is conservative(nothing to do with politics), which wants to be always in control and in its comfortable, known box and trying to prevent us at all costs from breaking the walls of our self-created prison, whilst our true perception of reality remains but a dream, some event that should be happening in a distant future.

We are always wondering about past events, “what if I would have done this or that”, or future planning. Everything is very useless, its only purpose is to keep us enslaved and burdened by regrets and full of hopes, one more useless and illusory than the other.

In hoping there’s a desire to control the outcome of our actions, we are trying to manipulate life’s flow towards something that we assume might be the best thing that could happen. True knowledge and wisdom comes with humbleness and knowing that we know so little, no matter how far we have reached, even when we reached the point of the self-born knowledge blooming within, there will still be an infinitesimal number of aspects of the world, ourselves and life that we are going to be ignorant about.

The wise person is free from hopes, because inside he/she no longer desires to manipulate the flow of life, there’s total surrender to Life, trusting fully that whatever is unfolding is always the best experience for them to have. That makes them always at ease with themselves, and at peace with the external manifestation. Even in the midst of the storm they maintain their inner contentment and peace, knowing that nothing lasts forever in this experience and their actions come from that same root of sedateness and inner contentment aware of the illusory aspect of life.
