“Knowing”, an obstacle to Being

Ignorance goes hand in hand with arrogance, both sprouting out of immaturity. Bookish knowledge brings about arrogance, and the misconception of the acquisition of wisdom, which is far from what’s true. Actually, bookish knowledge cements and enhances ignorance under the misleading disguise of the opposite. So the most ignorant people in this world are not those who are unaware of things, but those who assume they’re wise and knowledgeable.

I have been there myself. What saved me? My humility and having the courage to question myself and my understanding of things. The more we discover about life and its experience, the more we realize how small and ignorant we are. Paradoxically, the more we truly know, the more humble we should become.

Once that happens, an invisible door is opened, a door to our inner, self-born knowledge. That inner knowledge has been there all along, but we just disregarded it, or were unaware of it, ignorantly empowering external forces, bookish knowledge, and “believing” instead of feeling and experiencing. Once we start recognizing inner knowledge, we start observing how  confirmation of what’s within in the form of knowledge, is all around us, attested by nature, people, things, and energies…

The realization that everything is indeed reversed downs onto us: the one who believes he knows much is in reality, ignorant and a fool… And the one who dares listen to life, nature and even others is continuously learning and expanding, whereas the self-assumed wise and knowledgeable is just falling for programming, propaganda, narrative and his own hubris

The child learns very fast because he is always ready to reassess and change what he believes in, when better experience and knowledge is available. He’s also humble enough in his flexibility, and it’s the very reason why children rapidly absorb knowledge. The academic people are almost lost, rigid in their beliefs, so crystallized, that they are incapable of starting with a blanc canvas, rewiring their own imagined and pre-programmed “reality.” They’re the bucket which is already full of stale old water, and they don’t dare emptying it as they’ve invested their entire life, time and energy to a fantastic, far-from-truth, predigested and ultimately illusory understanding of life.

Like the great Siddha Master Tilopa said: “… How pitiable the foolish, their struggles never end…” Why? Because they can’t let go! They can’t let go of their “knowledge” stained with ignorance, unable to renounce their concepts and theories that haven’t brought them any true benefit. Unknowingly, they are stuck on the path that takes one nowhere.

Same with mental illness: no one can cure and experience sanity unless they’re ready to redraw the whole understanding of the very Existence. So they continue to believe in the same fallacy over and over again, unaware of the immediate healing being just in the palm of their hands, by choice of revisiting and reviewing everything that they assumed was correct. It’s so simple and apparently easy, but so hard to do, as I can attest from my own experience.

Once you do it, you will be able to apply in all the situations you stumble across. Everything is slowly being revealed, nothing remains a secret. Life has no secrets, no mysteries for the one who is flexible and ready to adjust.  For the one who is humble, all doors are open.  Knowledge is always revealed from within where it was at all times.

For the one who believes that he’s the king of his own little box and assumes that there’s nothing other than his kingdom, his theory is proven right inside his own mind, in its very limited confines, yet he is depriving himself of truly experiencing the vastness of the Infinite, which is ever expanding therefore whatever knowledge exists is also expanding, adapting, and the true wisdom is allowing oneself to flow with this eternal expansion, aware of the fact that while limited to the human body, one can never grasp the full-fledged truth, but can get higher and higher versions of it while it’s capacity to carry that higher levels of truth is opened within by the power of humility and gratitude.

Experience it all

One of the tricks through which souls are maneuvered into returning to this experience is the idea of unfinished businesses, things and events that we refused to have, or we were too scared to dare facing.

Attachments are the other trick, and it can be any type of attachment: to an idea, to a lover, to a family member, friend, pet, belonging or all of them together. Another attachment is the religious/ spiritual one that can be used against us.

Ideally, every single day we should accept whatever is laid in front of us, without rejecting or denying it, just fully accepting whatever is given, as we accept a movie plot at the cinema, knowing that we can’t change the direction of the events in the projected movie. But through the experience we have, we have the potential to change things. Unfortunately, we mostly have the power to get more lost rather than grow out of it. Everything is made addictive, so we get hooked onto each experience and crave for more. That’s when the game gets a grip on the player instead of the situation being otherwise.

You came to have this experience, have it fully, embracing each particle of it, while trying not to get captured in its snare. “Be in the world but not of the world”.

Have everything but make sure you don’t crave anything, make sure you make peace with the idea of you potentially leaving this game tomorrow and be ready not to look back, either at family, lover or any other potential trap to bring you back.

Do not get stuck in the movie you just finished, but continue to let go of it, and every experience and be ready for the next one. The capacity to let go of everything, anything and anyone at any point is the key to successfully escaping the trap of being stuck in the game.

There’s no debt you owe to anyone and nobody owes you anything. If you know this, you’ll be safe. Our kindness is used against us when we are leaving, as a manipulation tactic. Guilt and shame and even the sense of duty will be used against us. Beings reminiscing religious figures of our choice will be employed to keep us in the loop.

Promises of evolution, enlightenment and the achievement of perfection will try to trick one into coming back. But you should know that we are already all-knowingly, perfect and enlightened.

There are no stairs to climb, no place to reach, nothing to achieve. You’re just a being that has it all, yet wants to explore lower, and rather limited realms. It’s like a wealthy person having planes, helicopters and other vehicles yet enjoying the thrill of riding an old bike or skateboard and eventually becoming oblivious of his previous belongings. You can always get back to your vehicles and not remain stuck with the skateboard. The trick here is that, in the game we play, we can become forgetful of all those flying vehicles and allow ourselves to identify with the skateboard and get tricked into repeating the experience with the promise of a car, when, in reality, we are not even bound to time and space, hence even planes or helicopters are not really necessary.

If you are Everything that ever was, is and will be, which we all are, how can you owe anything to anyone, or how can anyone be indebted to you?

Even though the sun is hidden for days and weeks by clouds, that doesn’t mean it disappeared. As such, although you’re unaware of the Divine essence within you, that doesn’t mean that its existence is canceled by your unawareness of it.

Playing it safe in life is avoidance of the experience and, although many assume greatness or even sanctity in playing it safe, they are just deluding themselves. They’re deluded by their one-sided perspective. Whereas those who traveled deep within the hellish realms and yet traveled back through the obstacles and opposition, back to wholesomeness, those are the true unrecognized heroes.

So make sure you experience it all, whatever is yours to have, finish everything on your plate, or you might get tricked into return by your own unfulfilled desires and experiences and unfinished businesses and attachments.

Don’t make a big deal out of anything, forget, forgive and love unconditionally, be kind and selflessly giving, live courageously and know that you are already perfect, wise and enlightened. You just forgot! Now remember!

The arrogance of “knowing”

Have you ever observed a bunch of fish and other living creatures in a home aquarium? They’re mostly ignorant of what goes on outside of the glass walls that separate them from our world, or if they are to some degree aware, that amount is insufficient to grasp entirely the existence of something else outside of their existence.

I kid you not that compared to what truly happens in our proximity at any given point in time, we are more ignorant then the fish is about the world outside of their world. Even to compare our limitedness to the limitedness of a hedgehog in daylight would be a gross misrepresentation and understatement of the true extent of our ignorance.

In reality I feel that we are observed, watched, measured and studied, like we do while researching ants, fish or any other scientific observations of beings that are less aware than we are. And our observers might be themselves observed and studied by beings beyond their capacity to perceive.

The senses perceive in a very limited way our immediate proximity, and the mind takes all that information and creates a hodgepodge story about its interpretation and translation of the sensual perception. So the story, which we ignorantly call reality is an undoubtedly mystified and fantastic version of what the senses in their very limited capacity manage to register.

The mind creates the story based on learned things (also based on the unreal) , dogmas and other “truths” that our parents were force-fed themselves in their youth and automatically gets imposed onto us in our childhood. The mind also uses memory, which is again a non-factual representation of past events, but the interpretation which distorts even more our perception and idea of what is reality.

So to put it straight, our “reality” is as far from the true reality happening inside and outside of ourselves as the danger of the fire in a painting on the wall harming us.

Now to get to the point I wanted to make: I realize how silly it is to sustain and fight for whatever knowledge, no matter what that may be with others, because all of that will be one way or another untrue, far from the Truth and both factions are fighting for their “truth” yet they are both wrong no matter what they might say.

I am by nature very fiery in sustaining my own beliefs and creeds, but Alas, it’s so sad when I realize that no matter what I discover, find out, or say it is still insufficient and very far from the REAL, since the whole understanding of things came by using the same tools of creating fictitious worlds far from the true reality, namely the limited senses and limited mind. And because the REAL can’t be verbalized, but perceived in silence.

Transcending the limited senses and mind is advancing a step closer to the unfathomable truth that is impossible to utter and grasp with the old tools that I mentioned above, but can be perceived when we let go of all worries, thoughts and struggle to make sense of whatever we are exposed to. That perception is also called a gut feeling, or intuitive sense, which is the next step, the “sixth sense” on the eternal expansion of our conscious awareness and it overrides the limited judgemental mind and the senses if properly cultivated and heeded.

Therefore we should all learn to feel beyond the 5 senses, and beyond any logic in trying to make sense of something, and know that the senses are just rudimentary tools that can’t serve us anymore on this path of self-mastery, and the inner or gut feeling is to be exercised and worked with until the silencing of the mind with its phantasmagoric interpretation that makes it just another guardian in this prison that keeps us ensnared in a mental labyrinthic construct is put to rest.

To conclude: the ones who think they know, they’re ignorants! and I am one of those because I keep on going back to the old self that fights others for ideas that are always left behind in obsolescence when we grow in awareness. So how stupid is it to fight for an idea and concept that next year will become redundant as the beliefs of children about the existence of a monster under their bed when they are grown-ups?

But I should also reiterate the fact that I observed and emphasized in previous writings that everything is true in its particular moment and to the person to which that is suitable, which in itself may seem to be contradicting the previous statements in the article avove. But if properly perceived it reminds us that everyone has its own “truths” which we might have outgrown and our truths at the moment will have to be abandoned to make place to the next level of truth that we are prepared and ready to embody, until those too are to be transcended and replaced with the higher understanding to which our humbleness and openness qualified us for. So what is there to “know”, when everything is eventually swallowed by obsolescence?

So the only thing I can affirm that I know, and not be wrong about, is that I don’t know!
