Flip the tables

There are moments, nowadays probably more often than in the past when we feel burdened, exhausted, cornered and in despair. I am sure that everyone can relate to this. In those moments if we manage to remember the title of this article, and try to relax and see what we tend to ignore, which is almost an impossible task for us to do under so much pressure, then we are breaking the system, that very system that is designed to keep us in ignorance and stressed out.

Let’s take an example: we missed a plane, which implies material loss, time loss, maybe missing a scheduled meeting, missing another opportunity.. Etc

Our first bodily reaction is panic and despair, followed by a multitude of thoughts and ideas, all abundantly bathed in cortisol and adrenaline which, in case you don’t know render us very dumb, because it puts us into the fight mode, so our capacity to see things clearly is greatly diminished. By allowing thoughts to create permutations and projections of different outcomes we dive deeper into that stressful mode we’re in, like one person being desperate for finding themselves in a hole, yet continuously digging and by continuing to do that, diminishing their chance to be able to exit that hole they created in the first place. Remember: if you are in a hole, stop digging.

How do we flip the tables? There are many choices. One will be to do exactly the opposite of what we used to do. Instead of lamenting, we accept the event fully and we can even try being grateful to life, for orchestrating such an unexpected and amazing event, which always carries with it a huge lesson that will be undoubtedly missed if we were to approach the situation in the old way we used to do.

Another way is to see the whole situation in a very pragmatic and precise mathematical manner: can I do something about it? If the answer is yes, you just do it. If the answer is no, relax, accept, and breathe calmly, and even if you don’t feel like it, fix a wide smile on your face. If we are surrounded by clouds or darkness and we feel like our entire fleet of boats has been sunk, find the power to laugh, and laugh out loud and immediately a shift of vibration will happen. The whole darkness in which we were about to drown will be dispelled.

I am talking from sheer experience and I have noticed that we can grow more and more immune to events that used to shake us. Like this, we manage to learn our lessons, and we evolve out of the limitations. Whatever event in our lives has a double potential: a destructive one and a transcending element. By flipping the tables you grow out of, and transcend that negative potential.

When something happens in your life, remember to pause, breathe calmly, banish thoughts, and see how you can flip the tables, how you can react and act differently than until now, try to look for “the juice” of the whole situation and extract it. You will step on the not-so-crowded road of self-mastery, or becoming the master of your life instead of a victim of it.

Good luck to you all!

Embrace difficulty

When you’re desperately running, looking for comfort and good things, you might be attracting the exact opposite, since the desire to find those things and experiences comes from feeling lack. But if you purposely expose yourself to things, people, and elements out of your normal comfort zone, then you are attracting growth and evolution and it will also eventually bring rewards and other pleasant things, people, and experiences.

Today I started the shower with cold water, although I would usually only end it up with cold water after hot. It was a great wake-up, it was at first shocking, but then I embraced the discomfort, and suddenly the discomfort vanished and surprisingly, the whole experience felt nice. By extrapolation, I will start embracing things that I normally try to avoid for the sake of feeling at ease and being comfy. I already feel that this is a whole new level, a total shift to a better version of myself.

The special forces troops are having very hard training that not many can cope with. They’re preparing themselves for that moment when they’re going to be in real action, they will feel prepared like the whole thing is not hard at all, it would feel like a walk in the park, they’ll be comfortable where normal people would probably give up or feel very stressed.

So I believe that all this technology, all the comfort and attachment, and craving for it in reality created wimps out of us:

“Oh, I am so hungry, I am cold, I am hot, my bus is late, my plane is canceled..” This is life, get used to it, but more than getting used to it, if you want to flip the tables and thrive, start accepting, embracing and even looking for challenges, and uncomfortable things, things that will push us out of the confort zone, that will only push you to expand, grow, and be ready for whatever life wants to throw on you Exactly like the well-trained special force soldier embracing challenges and stepping out of the self-imposed limiting box.

The more we accept life as it comes, without wishing that everything would be easy and comfortable, the wiser we become, knowing that there can’t be peace without war, light without darkness, or male without female. Once we understand and open up for challenges, the rewards and the comforts will appear on their own accord.

So through balancing the innate desire to experience only one side of the coin, with the realization that it will always have both sides, and once we don’t reject the unwanted side, life will become wholesome and will fail to put us down, to bring us at the edge. After all the world is full of people who dream of being of light but think that they can ignore their own inner darkness. And let’s be clear: Yin and Yang is the representation of the balance between the two polarities and equilibrium towards the entire existence, and not some white circle or a black one. So by embracing both polarities within we get better and better at accepting the same outside of us.

Let’s start with the basics

Theoretically the end goal should be coming back home, uniting once again with the Source.

I know that this information will click with many of us, at least on a mental/theoretical level. The trick is that unless we’ve done the “dirty work” , this information is kind of useless. And here’s my take on the matter:

We always dream about some distant goal, enlightenment, becoming once again knowledgeable, self-realization etc.. But we are trying to skip some steps, looking for shortcuts in the process and we just can’t foul ourselves (the higher Self). The steps we all dream about avoiding are: taking care of all the things in the material mental and spiritual world in a proper sequence. And I really mean every single (apparently unimportant) thing.

I am a bit an adept of rough and visual examples to make my point, so I would compare this avoiding thing with dressing ourselves in very elegant clothes and wearing expensive and divinely scented perfumes without ever taking a shower.

Yes, guilty! Again me and my examples 😁. But I am sure you got the point. And I have noticed that we have to start with the very minute things that we usually assume we can ignore and postpone, like doing dishes, mantaing ourselves, houses and surroundings clean and tidy, like having proper nourishment and rest, taking care of every aspects of our lives.

And these are undoubtedly things that are so boring and repetitive that we might get fed-up with and consider not that important as “higher” things as meditating, chanting mantras or any other type of saddhana, working your shadow and past traumas out and so on. Remember again the example of wearing great clothes and perfume without taking a shower.

The trick is that it will fail to bring results, no matter how dedicated and perseverent we might be on the “higher” levels. It will be the same like wanting our car to work smoothly and do its job, without us taking care of all of the needful, like oil, gasoline, cooling liquid, brake fluid etc. So we all know that if we miss even just one of those, the car will eventually fail to take us where we need to go and it’s all because neglecting to take care of all the aspects that needed to be taken care of.

The body, house, clothes and whatever we have, are tools in our existence and we can’t neglect them and believe that some are unimportant, or less important than others, or the entire machinery will malfunction.

So I believe that this is why the majority fail, because believing we can neglect something in favor of something else. And I am talking from experience.

Tidying our house is not only having an esthetic role, but a hidden and more profound one, in allowing the energies to flow smoothly, in not allowing clutter to accumulate, because that’s promoting stagnation on an energetic and material level. Also lower level entities are living in lower level vibration. By mantaing things properly washed, functioning and tidy, we are creating an unwelcoming environment for beings and entities that enjoy a rather lower resonance.

It’s probably obvious that if the body is malnourished, not rested that we won’t have its full assistance on our path, therefore every single detail has to be taken into consideration. And the same analogy applies to the body as to the house: we are hosts of so many entities from physical to an energetic level, like bacteria, fungi, viruses and other entities either parasitic or symbiotic. The better we take care of the body in a proper and diligent manner, the more we create a welcoming environment for symbiotic beings and entities, and obviously if we neglect, misuse and forget anything, we lower the body efficiency and defense and implicitly create an environment promoting the pathogenic and lower vibration elements and entities.

Cooking for oneself with love and using quality ingredients and utensils is also a good way to enhance the quality of our self-care. We should use beautiful cutlery and dishes, maybe even silver cutlery, or at least stainless steel, crystal glasses and china cups and plates, with natural and pleasant colors. Let’s make everything that we offer ourselves an offer to the All, the Universe, the Absolute, because there can be no love for That which we don’t know and can’t see, without love, care and respect for what we see in the mirror every day. We should treat ourselves and our surroundings with outmost respect and care, and they wouldn’t fail to serve us well.

So to conclude: before dreaming about the sky, we should first become masters of the lower realms, starting with the grosser and advancing to the subtler, otherwise the “doors to the sky” will fail to open. There are many so called spiritual people that live in a mess yet hope that one day the gates of the sky will open. But the wise ones know that they’re the ones to climb the stairs, walk the path, put the key in the keyhole, turn it and that will open the doors, any other way or forgetting a sequence will fail to bring the desired result.

So let us all remember the “lower” and “mundane”, and pamper ourselves today starting with making our beds as soon as we wake up, than continuing with a good shower, opening the windows to invite good and new air in the house, cook some good food, imbued with love, and use our best utensils for eating it, and tidying up the house, and I guarantee you that even by taking care of such minute and easy tasks, already we will be able to feel the wind of improvement, a state of betterment and good feeling, letting us know that we are on the right path. Now extrapolate these easy notions to everything you do. Then continue to apply this recipe for success, looking for more things and places to add value and improve from low to high and from material to subtler and spiritual levels.
